Ukaguzi Housing Cooperative Society is a Cooperative that was formed in 2013, primarily to provide housing and investment opportunities to Ukaguzi SACCO members and staff of the Office of the Auditor-General.
The Society has since extended its membership to cover the staff of the Ministries and State Corporations.
The key objectives are to provide members with an avenue for affordable and sustainable housing and settlement.
Primary Purpose: Enable members to collectively acquire land and develop housing projects at affordable rates, making home ownership accessible — unlike a SACCO whose primary purpose is to provide financial services such as savings and loans.
Membership Benefits: Members gain access to plots or housing units at subsidized and more affordable prices through collective bargaining — unlike a SACCO where members benefit from affordable loans, dividends, and investment opportunities.
Regulation: Governed under cooperative laws, but not regulated by SASRA like SACCO.
